Sadly, after a bravely fought illness, our Hon. Secretary, Mr. John Buteux, died on 15^th Jan 2007.  Our prayers and sympathy were extended to our Chairman, Elizabeth Buteux, and their family.

The funeral at St. Mary's Church, Hemel Hempstead was extremely well attended and was a testament to the love and respect given to John, and for his work with the local community in a variety of ways.  John has been sadly missed by all who knew him, and particularly by the many local voluntary organisations with which John was actively involved.

 John had been leader of Dacorum Borough Council for many years before becoming Mayor in 1992. On his retirement from the council he was made an Honorary Alderman.  John & his wife Elizabeth had run the Old Bell Inn (below) on Hemel Hempstead High Street from 1955 for 30 years until their retirement
