LEVERSTOCK GREEN'S HISTORY & VILLAGE SIGN

LEVERSTOCK GREEN'S HISTORY & VILLAGE SIGN

If you have driven through Leverstock Green towards St.Albans or Bedmond you will have noticed the Village Sign resplendent on the green.  You may have wondered why the reference to WESTWICK, and why the medieval pictures (taken from the Luttrell Psalter) should be so prominent.  If you take the time to park in the village car-park and enter the Village Hall you will also be able to see close up, the original sign, now fully restored, together with an explanation of all the features on it.  Click on the button next to the sign above and you can read this document, and click here: LEVERSTOCK GREEN'S OUTLINE HISTORY and you can read all about the village's long history, dating back to Roman and even Iron Age times.   And if these have given you an appetite for more go to www.lgchronicle.net to discover the many aspects of Leverstock Green's History, carefully researched and put together since 1994  by Barbara Chapman
